I got a new dress, which has some colors I don't usually wear. But I like it, so I'm going to make a necklace to match. I thought I knew what to do, but in thinking about focal beads, I'm seeking advice.
Please argue why you prefer Prototype A or Prototype B in your comments. The dress swatch is along the bottom of each picture.
Prototype A (rose focal):
Prototype B (Siam focal):

Woah! That's a tough one, but I think I'm going to have to go with prototype A because the rose colored center bead seems to draw out more of the lighter hues in the dress, like the pinks and subtle oranges and grays. I like B, but the center bead on B seems to emphasize orange and looks darker. Since the background color of the dress is dark, I think you might want a necklace that has some lighter colored elements and be a focal point. My test was, when I look at B and then look at the dress, the first thing I see are the dark colors. When I look at A and then look at the dress, the first thing I see are the light colors. So my vote goes for A.
I vote for Siam focal ( B ). I do not see any pink ( A ) in the dress swatch: to me, that detracts from the dress. I do see the darker colors and that was more pleasing to my eye with the dress. I also know that some people's opinion carry a heavier vote. Matka
I would echo the first poster's comments: "go with prototype A because the rose colored bead draws out more of the lighter hues." Of course the chances of me actually getting to see any of this in person is small indeed, so you don't need to please me!

B...no A....no B...no...just kidding. No right or wrong. Just more pleasing to the eye. Went with my gut. Hate to agree with "the oldest" poster but... prototype B. The fabric is dark. Can't deny that so the darker shade stone is more pleasing to me. Luke, follow your dark side.
